      Dear Colleagues,

I am inviting all ISP members interested in creating an official statement of ethics on Plastination. If you are interested, please contact me and we can begin work. My goals are to publish this work and also have it incorporated into the bylaws of the Society.

      ISP – Statement of Position

I have included a Google folder with information, including the initial documents and associated references used. Looking forward to this international collaborative effort!

      Sincerely,

      Patrick (Bill) Frank

      Hello!

I am interested in participating in this, as the history and ethics of these anatomical topics are a personal interest of mine. I was thinking that since we are in an international community, we could also see if members are interested in translating this for others into other languages. I can make myself available for Spanish.

      Have a nice day!

There is no single, global “official ethical statement” on plastination, as regulations and ethical considerations may vary by country and institution. However, there are widely accepted ethical principles and applications derived from bioethics and medical law that are relevant to plastination. These principles address the dignity of the human body and consent, a starting point that encompasses us in making plastination more humane. Key points found in ethical discussions about plastination include: respect for posthumous dignity, respectful treatment, consent and autonomy, legitimate objectives, and purposes of public display.

      Thanks for the topic suggestion.

      Hello Bill!

I am not receiving any updates or emails from this forum. My email address is dhalma.bayron@upr.edu, and I am still interested in participating in this if it has not yet begun or if assistance is still needed. If you have an email, I can contact you; I would be glad to.

      Best regards,

      Dhalma
